Services
A fundamental list of the services we offer can be found below; however, we welcome you to contact us to discuss your individual requirements…
Consultancy
- Tree Surveys – Risk-based surveys covering a single tree to groups of 1,000+. This type of survey assesses the broad physiological and structural condition of the trees in question and provides management recommendations to stakeholders. This type of survey is useful in fulfilling ‘Duty of Care’ requirements under the Occupiers Liability Act. Legality aside, this type of survey also provides a blueprint for stakeholders to manage their tree stock, not only ensuring the risks the trees pose are within an accepted tolerance, but that their benefits and values are upheld so they continue to be an asset.
- Tree Reports – Heavily overlapping into ‘Tree Surveys’ above, but with a higher level of data captured per tree. Usually suitable for individual trees and smaller groups, this type of survey provides stakeholders comprehensive information on the condition of their trees. This type of report can also be used for Tree Preservation Order (TPO) appeals or justifications.
- Tree Preservation Orders (TPO’s) / Conservation Areas (CA’s) – Where a TPO exists or a tree is situated within a CA, we can act as a mediator between the Local Planning Authority (LPA) and stakeholders. This can include submitting applications, managing applications and negotiating to find a resolve in cases of declined applications or other issues including formal appeals. We can also offer preliminary advice to stakeholders pre-application and provide tree reports to substantiate TPO appeals or justifications.
- BS5837 / Tree Constraints – We are able to help construction and development clients with planning permission survey requirements. This type of survey catalogues and categorises trees on land proposed for development and outlines how such work can be undertaken without undue damage to the trees.
- Decay Mapping – Using both PiCUS Tomography and Resi-PD Microdrill systems, we can help quantify suspected levels of decay within trees.
- Disease diagnosis – The correct identification of diseases can be pivotal in when managing trees. We are able to assist with fungal associations, pest infestations and abiotic disorders.
- Ancient & Veteran Trees – We have particular specialism in ancient & veteran trees including the management and retention of existing trees, assigning ancient or veteran status formally or informally, habitat creation in non-ancient or veteran trees and advice on generational continuity.
Compliance
- Accreditations – We are able to help businesses achieve accreditations such as Arb Approved Contractor and CHAS through the implementation of paperwork, mentoring business owners and staff, office based & on-site training and guidance on standards.
- Health & Safety Audits – In the absence of a business wanting to achieve a particular accreditation, we can assist with internal H&S audits to offer business owners a current compliance status check. This can help ensure a business is operating within current laws, guidelines and standards and inform business owners of any shortcomings which could lead to staff or client litigation. This type of audit can also help prevent accidents & incidents and the knock on effects that these bring, both moral and financial.
- Compliance Paperwork – We are able to supply paperwork packages to businesses. Such packages can include Generic Risk Assessments, Task & Machine Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Policies, Procedures, COSHH and PUWER. These can be supplied as templates or populated by us.
Theory Training
- Theory Training – We offer biology-based short-courses for individuals or teams. The time & commitment needed to undertake an Arboricultural theory course makes it prohibitive to a huge majority of tree surgery business owners, PAYE staff and self-employed arborists. The aim of these short courses is to offer concise information to delegates, relayed in a clear and comprehensible way to give them technical background information and context to the practical work they do – to bridge the gap between ‘how’ and ‘why’. Suitable for class sizes 1-10 people and undertaken at your place of work nationwide. Our primary course is ‘1 Day Arboricultural Biology and Principles of Tree Work’ however we can build a course to suit the individual needs of the attendees if required.
- 1-1 Arboricultural Theory Tutoring – If you have started a Level 2, 3 or 4 Arboricultural course and are struggling with a particular element or in general with available time or enthusiasm, we can help with 1-1 tutoring either in person, via voice call or Zoom. We can’t give you the answers, but we can guide and teach the principles of the question to aid you reaching the outcome.
- Tree Surgery Specification Assistance – If your business has been asked to provide advice or a specification of work you are not sure or confident in addressing, we can help guide you or take over completely if necessary. We can do this in person by visiting the site or digitally with photos, videos and narrative.
